SELF is expanding our capacity to help schools serve students with learning differences as they return to school this fall. We will be offering training to help teachers and leaders serve their diverse learners this fall with strategies for in-person and virtual instruction. Our upcoming offerings are listed below:

Dynamic and Rigorous Instruction with LEAP Connector Standards

  • Option 1: Thursday, September 17 from 3:00 – 5:00pm CST
  • Option 2: Tuesday, September 29 from 4:30 – 6:30pm CST

The LEAP Connector Standards are alternative assessment standards for Louisiana students receiving special education. They are designed to provide rigorous instruction to Louisiana students at all academic functioning levels and provide a clear pathway between instructional settings. This training explores the rationale and structure of the LEAP Connectors as well as targeted strategies for auditing and modifying lesson plans to be Connectors-aligned.

Designing Options for Executive Function in Hybrid Instruction

  • Option 1: Tuesday, September 22 from 4:30 – 6:30pm CST
  • Option 2: Wednesday, October 7 from 3:00 – 5:00pm CST

As we enter Fall, we are uniquely aware of the constant shift between distance, hybrid, and in-person instruction schools are making as they adapt to the health concerns in their communities. The need for flexibility is not only necessary for schools and teachers, but also for the students they support. Ensuring students have the executive function skills to stay focused, organized, and complete tasks will lead to deeper learning. This session does a deep dive into strategies teachers can use when designing materials and leading instruction to support the development of students executive function skills.
