CEO of FirstLine Schools

Jay Altman is CEO of FirstLine Schools, a local charter management organization serving close to 3,000 students across New Orleans. He is also the founder and a board member of Leading Educators, a professional development program for teacher-leaders working to create high performing open admissions urban schools by partnering with schools and districts across the United States. Jay also sits on the board of LOOP NOLA (Louisiana Outdoors Outreach Program), a non-profit that provides outdoor education experiences to students in the New Orleans region. From 2005 to 2008, Jay worked in London as
Director of Education for ARK Schools, developing a network of academies. Prior to this he was co-founder and a school leader of New Orleans Charter Middle School, the first charter school in New Orleans. Jay was also co-founder and Executive Director of New Orleans Summerbridge, now New Orleans Breakthrough program. Jay is the proud father of two children, Calder and Talia, and the lucky husband of Adrienne.
